Galvanized Square Bar

A square rod is a solid metal rod with a square cross-section. It is typically made from general-purpose steel, which offers excellent formability and weldability. To prevent corrosion and rust, the surface of the square rod is coated with a protective layer of zinc. Galvanized square rods, with this protective coating, have a longer lifespan and require less maintenance compared to non-galvanized rods. As a result, they can contribute to slightly lower maintenance and repair costs.

The hot-dipped galvanized round bar is highly suitable for various processing techniques. However, it is important to note that welding, torching, or abrasive sawing of galvanized steel is not recommended without proper protection and adequate ventilation. Galvanized round bars are typically made from A36 hot rolled steel or mild steel. These round bars undergo a molten zinc coating process (ASTM A123), resulting in a hot-dipped galvanization (HDG) finish.

The hot-dipped galvanized coating can be identified by its crystallization pattern, often referred to as "spangle," which appears on the surface of the material. Galvanized round bars have a semi-rough surface with dull edges and may have slight variations in dimensions along their length.

One of the notable advantages of hot-dipped galvanized round bars is their excellent corrosion resistance, making them an excellent choice for outdoor use or in exposed environments. Common applications for galvanized round bars include hinges, railing systems, and ground stakes.
